European Travel Agent Forum

Mid-month, I attended the European Travel Agent Forum in the Azores (a Portuguese island chain in the Atlantic). First of all - if you haven't been here, it was BEA-U-TI-FUL. It reminded me of a cross between Hawaii (there are 9 islands here and each is a little bit different with different charm) and Ireland (lots of quaint farms with cows roaming, and very green). I only got to explore one island, Terceira, but some of my colleagues went on to see 2 or 3 others, and their pictures and stories were amazing. If you're looking to check this island chain off your bucket list, I'd recommend planning to travel in the summer months, when weather is warmest and there's the most activities going on.

This conference was really great as it connected me with many local European tour operators and suppliers in a one-on-one way, with opportunity to get to know them a bit better and hear about what they can offer and their expertise. I love this, because it is so important to me that when I create client itineraries, I ensure I am providing options that are unique and immersive for my clients as they explore Europe. Part of a travel advisor's work is to always be making those connections, so that whatever my traveler's want, I can curate that for them!

It's Spooky Season!

October is one of my favorite months due to Halloween - my kids and I like to dress up in costumes that we put together from thrifted clothing and accessories. The kids typically pick the theme and then we go find all the necessary accoutrements over the course of several thrift store visits. Most years we strong-arm Jacob to dress up in the theme as well, although I don't think it's his favorite as much as ours.

We had seen Inside Out 2 in theaters earlier this year, so the kids chose that as our theme. I'll be Anxiety, EV picked Disgust, Malcolm wanted to be Anger, and Jacob got Embarrassment, perhaps fittingly. Check out our family picture from this year, complete with the background of Riley's brain (from the movie)!

Where are you hoping to travel next?

Referrals are my favorite compliment!

Even if you're not in the mode of planning travel right now, I'm sure you know some people who might be thinking of an upcoming trip they'd like to take. Referrals are a small business owner's dream compliment - especially when I get amazing clients like my existing ones are!

Please tell your friends about me and encourage them to reach out or schedule a travel consultation if they're thinking about travel in the future. I truly appreciate referrals SO MUCH!
