Recommended Travel Items

Every traveler wants to be well-prepared for their upcoming journey. Here are some of my favorite recommended items to have to ensure you are well-prepared!

General Travel Accessories

  • Travel adaptor & voltage converter - other countries have different voltage units and plug configurations. This tool makes your electronics work with them (yes, even hair dryers and curling irons)!

  • Luggage air tags - in case your luggage gets lost, these help you locate them and get them to you easier.

  • Compression packing cubes - save space in your luggage and use compression!

  • Travel extension cord - hotels don’t always have enough outlets, make sure you can charge everything.

  • Travel first aid kit - Perfect size to bring to make sure you’re prepared for the unexpected.

  • Hand sanitizer - just the right size to make it through TSA.

  • Portable charger - easily ensure your devices stay charged all day using this portable charger.

  • Powdered vitamin C - stay healthy on your trip by ensuring you get a lot of vitamin C. This is also great if you feel like you’re coming down with something.

  • Velcroing set of 3 hard luggage - this set was my saving grace when I traveled solo with my 10 month old. The velcro allows the pieces to connect, making it easy to haul all three around with even just one hand!

Adventure Travel

  • Travel backpack - meets the carry on size requirements for most airlines, includes a day pack, and has supportive straps to keep you from feeling the weight of your pack all day. This is what I travel with on my adventure trips!

  • Stand and pee for women - in countries where bathrooms are scarce or are not to the US standard, this device can help you pee with ease!

  • Purse size toilet paper - in many countries, toilet paper is not a guarantee in public restrooms, or it can cost money. Plan ahead and bring your own.

  • Reusable straws - having these on hand can help you in situations where straws aren’t available or where you want to reduce waste.

  • Foldable laundry bag - when you are adventuring, these are helpful to keep your dirty clothes away from the clean ones. You can bring this to a laundromat as well.

  • Hand-wash laundry detergent - for the times you need to launder your clothes in a sink, these small sheets work great.

  • Headlamp - for when outdoor lighting isn’t available.

  • Lifestraw water bottle - these filters can make your water potable even in areas where faucet water should not be consumed.

  • Solar powered portable lantern - for areas where the power may go out (or there is no electric light).

  • Activated charcoal - Anytime you start to have tummy issues, this is helpful to take. The charcoal tends to bind to the “bad stuff” and helps it exit without as much turmoil on your part!

  • Probiotics specifically for diarrhea - No one wants to get traveler’s diarrhea, but sometimes it happens. This specific strain of probiotics is great for assisting with this issue.

Things for Kids

  • Portable booster seat - don’t lug your booster seats around, use this portable one that inflates and deflates for easy packing.

  • Car seat travel cart - I’ve tried the backpack style and it killed my shoulders. Definitely recommend something like this cart to roll the car seats through airports.

  • LCD writing tablets - These are great to keep your kids entertained for plane rides and waiting in airports.
