Cruisin' the ocean blue

Cruises – you either love them or you’re not interested. At least that’s been what I’ve noticed the trend to be as I’ve talked to people about them. I was in the second camp for the longest time, because, to me, cruises seemed to be wasted time on boats when I could’ve easily flown between sites and had so much more time in each place. But, after taking hours of training through Princess Cruises, I can now say that there is more to a cruise than what I originally thought.

The Princess cruise line takes travelers to over 300 destinations with 150 unique itineraries. These itineraries span 6 continents and can vary from 1-111 days (that 111 days is a cruise where you circumnavigate the globe, stopping at tons of ports all along the way). They’ve been in the cruise business for over 30 years, so they know a thing or two about how to run a successful cruise. They even have a signature cocktail honoring the bartender on the Love Boat (ask for “the Isaac,” and you’ll be greeted with his signature gesture).

Princess makes travel easy – they offer eZair, where they book your flight and cruise and ensure you get to your cruise on time. If there are any delays where you miss embarkation, they take it upon themselves to get you to the next port, free of charge. They also have transfers where they will assist with luggage and provide a hospitality room if your flights get in really early or you depart late after you disembark.

Princess also offers new dining experiences. They have top rated chefs creating the dishes they choose to serve and often utilize the local food to design the meals. They have dessert chefs on board many ships, making delicacies that take up to 3 days to produce. They have options for special romantic dinners for 2 in your suite or special wine tasting groups. As far as dinner goes, Princess offers both the traditional set times or flexible dining options. And if you have a sweet tooth, like me, complimentary cookies and milk are served between 3:30-4:30 every day.

The ships offer many other amenities too, aside from just restaurants and food. They have Movies under the Stars, where you can watch some of the latest blockbusters outside. They also have a Sanctuary on most ships that allows adults an exclusive retreat with massages, refreshments, and light fare. Speaking of needing kid-free time, the ships also offer childcare for kids 3-18, provided they are toilet trained, almost all day every day, regardless of if you are docked at a port or not. If you would like a date day out in the port city, you can have the kids stay back and have a day full of fun and activities back on the boat. They feed them a traditional kids lunch (pizza!) and you can pop back to pick them up once you’ve finished your excursions.

One of Princess’ best offerings though, is the Land and Sea options they have available on select cruises. On some of their most popular itineraries, they offer a tour to extend the cruise on land for 5-9 days. This allows the traveler to not only see the port cities, but also get to go inland to see the sites not accessible by ship. One of their most popular locations for this is to see the Denali National Park in Alaska. Princess has their own private lodge there which travelers can use a home base to continue to explore the natural beauty of Alaska.

So, does this make you want to take a cruise? I know I do! If you would like to look into the many beautiful destinations that Princess has to offer, request a price quote and we’ll help you plan your next cruise!
