August is great for Southeast Asia

As I start thinking about how many times I'll attend the Minnesota State Fair, you can start thinking about your bucketlist trip to Southeast Asia - countries like Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, or even the Philippines.

• Generally the best time to visit these countries is during out winter - October to March - to find the most hospitable weather (not as muggy and hot, and generally drier).

• Many of these countries are very inexpensive to travel in, once you're there. Your biggest ticket item will be the flights there.

• There are plenty of opportunities to experience cultures and learn more about Eastern religions in any of these countries.
