August 9, 2023 - What am I Working On? Egypt & Italy

This trip is definitely on the next level for checking off bucketlist items!

Egypt & Italy - 11 full days

I love a good repeat client, and this family is no exception! They've had me plan travel for them before, but this time they're heading over the Atlantic to check off some amazing sites from their bucketlists. From Giza to Rome to the Amalfi coast, they'll be seeing a lot in their 11 days! And included in the 11 days is their layover in Paris - with a long enough span to go into the city briefly!

Itinerary

Day 1 - Paris

Their flights to Cairo have them at the Paris airport for a long layover, and this family packs light - so they're planning to utilize a locker in the airport for their carryons and head into the city of lights for a bit!

Day 2 - Cairo

They arrive in Cairo overnight, so they'll check into their hotel, get a few winks of sleep in before tackling the pyramids at Giza on a guided tour. They'll get to experience a 30-minute camel ride as well as learn more about the history of the famous pyramids, and the Sphinx!

Day 3 - Cairo to Rome

Their one purpose in Cairo was to see the pyramids, so today they jet off to Italy, where they'll start off their journey in Rome. Their hotel is very close to the iconic Spanish Steps, a great neighborhood for them to explore if they'd like tonight.

Day 4 - Rome

In the consultation call that I have for every new trip inquiry, I ask what pace my clients would like to have for the trip as well as how many planned activities they want. For these clients, they wanted some days to explore on their own. Today is such a day.

Day 5 - Florence (day trip)

Instead of packing up their luggage and moving to Florence for a few days, they opted for a day trip. Florence is a couple hours away by train, so there is plenty of opportunity to discover the city a bit while staying in Rome.

Day 6 - Rome

Today's going to be an action packed day - they are touring the colosseum, Roman Forum, the Vatican, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter's Basilica. I'd call this the quintessential Rome day, for anyone not familiar with the major tourist attractions of the city.

Day 7 - Rome

One final open day in Rome for this family before they head down to the Amalfi Coast.

Day 8 - Rome to Amalfi Coast

They'll take the train from Rome to Naples to pick up a rental car so that they can truly explore the Amalfi Coast at their own pace. They are staying in an apartment here, so will have access to laundry facilities as well as the ability to make their own food and eat it on the balcony overlooking the coast.

Day 9 - Amalfi Coast

I've left their time here completely open to explore where they'd like with their rental car. With so many quaint towns here, they'll never be lacking a beautiful view.

Day 10 - Amalfi Coast

Today they may venture on a hike of the Path of the Gods, one of the most picturesque hiking trails in the area. Along its span, it provides great photo opportunities of the Positano and Sorrento peninsulas.

Day 11 - Amalfi Coast to Naples

On their last full day of their trip, they'll get the morning to explore some more of the coast before turning their rental car in and checking into an airport hotel in Naples, to prepare for their early flight in the morning.
