January 10, 2024 - What am I Working On? St. Lucia

Check out this amazing Spring Break trip I'm in the midst of planning for a client!

St. Lucia - 7 days

When you think of spring break destinations, I'm guessing you think of something warm and tropical. Often I get requests for Mexico, Jamaica, or the Dominican Republic as the flights tend to be easy from Minnesota and the rest of the frozen tundra. This year I've gotten several spring break requests to more unique destinations like St. Lucia!

St. Lucia is an island situated in the Eastern Caribbean, with two twin volcanic peaks that make the landscape very exotic and unique in a relatively close flight proximity to most of the United States. It has a rich history, with the Carib Indians inhabiting it from the 800's to the 1600's when it was "discovered" (obviously tongue in cheek there, as the native Caribs had discovered it long ago) by colonizers and even a pirate, François Le Clerc, nicknamed Jambe de Bois because of his wooden leg.

This island has a lot to offer in terms of activities - visitors can enjoy attempting the three peak climb: Gros Piton (2, 618.9 ft), Mount Gimie (3,117 ft.) and Petit Piton at 2,438 ft. Or if hiking isn't your thing, you can enjoy many different yachting and sailing adventures. If you get too much sun, you can explore some of the rainforest and try to see if you can see any of the animals found on the island. Then, you can check out some of the amazing 5 star restaurants that are available, as the island is definitely a foodie heaven.

Itinerary

As this is more of a relaxing sun and fun trip, I'm highlighting some of the many available activities you can do on the island.

Land & Sea Tour

St. Lucia’s towering peaks and gorgeous coastline mean exploring is best done by land and water. This full-day tour covers the island’s top highlights, from the ‘Drive-In Volcano’ to mud baths, bathing in Toraille Waterfall, a Pitons photo stop, snorkeling, a bat cave, fishing villages, and more. Then lunch features the distinctive flavors of St. Lucian cuisine for a full cultural immersion.

Project Chocolat Tour

Project Chocolat starts out in the rainforest for a tour of the cacao groves to learn about cacao cultivation, then make your very own chocolate bar from a freshly cut cacao pod. Round out the experience by indulging in delicious cacao cuisine, including the Cacao Burger, Cacao Beer-Battered Fish & Chips, and fresh local produce, to be enjoyed with the outlook of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Mineral Baths, Mud Baths & Waterfall Adventure

Spend the day relaxing at the St. Lucia Mineral and Mud Baths with Toraille Waterfall Experience. First, check out Sulphur Springs, the hot sulfuric black water pools and mud baths. Then, enjoy time at the Diamond Falls Botanical Gardens and Mineral Baths and Toraille Waterfall. This experience is perfect for travelers needing some time to relax and bounce back.

Full Day Catamaran Tour

Cruise around St Lucia aboard a catamaran during this 8-hour excursion. With an expert captain and crew as your hosts, spread out on the deck for some sun and relaxation while sipping rum drinks from the open bar. Go ashore to explore sites like Morne Coubrail Estate, the sulphur springs, Toraille Waterfall and the quaint town of Soufriere. Snorkel the underwater world in Anse Cochon and Marigot Bay and enjoy a Creole-style buffet.
