May 8, 2024 - What am I Working On? The Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, & Italy
4 Countries, A Concert or 2, All Over 12 Days!
This client came to me feeling like she was a bit behind in planning her trip, due to a misunderstanding with a previous travel agent she had been working with who ended up not being able to help her plan her custom itinerary and cost her a few months' time. Lucky for her, this very unique trip is exactly my cup of tea! Her trip revolves around tickets to Taylor Swift that she'd secured for her family, and wanting to expose the kids to the culture of Amsterdam, Düsseldorf, Zürich, the Amalfi Coast, and Rome!
Itinerary
Day 1 - Amsterdam
On their first full day (they arrived yesterday), they'll be visiting the Anne Frank House and enjoying a canal cruise in the Jordaan neighborhood. The Anne Frank House is a very popular museum, and the only way to get tickets is to purchase directly. They begin selling 6 weeks prior to your visit date, and often sell out of popular times very quickly.
Day 2 - Amsterdam to Düsseldorf
Today they are moving on from Amsterdam to Düsseldorf. This isn't a typical city most travelers stop in, however this city is a perfect home base to ensure they can get their Swiftie hearts filled at the concert tonight!
Day 3 - Düsseldorf
Today I have them taking a walking tour of Düsseldorf. The city has many historic places and beautiful architecture. They may even snag some tickets to a Coldplay concert tonight as well!
Day 4 - Düsseldorf to Zürich
Another day of travel, this time up towards the Alps as they head to Zürich. Nothing specific planned for them today so that they can check in to their apartment hotel, and grab a good dinner.
Day 5 - Zürich
One of the reasons they wanted to stay in Zurich was to see the Alps and Lake Lucerne. Today they will be heading to Titlus, where even in July there should be snow! They'll have a stop at Lake Lucerne as well, where they can enjoy the view and have a bite to eat.
Day 6 - Zürich
This family told me they are adventurous, so I opted to have them enjoy a day at Grindelwald, where they can do fun activities like taking the cable car up the mountain, zip lining, scootering, or taking a mountain cart down the slopes!
Day 7 - Zürich to Sorrento
Today's travel takes them on a plane from Zürich to the Amalfi Coast, specifically Sorrento. They wanted to enjoy some beach time on their trip, and this is a lovely place to enjoy the public beaches.
Day 8 - Sorrento
Today they'll take a boat trip to the isle of Capri, enjoying swimming as well as exploring the island on their own before heading back to the boat to return to the mainland.
Day 9 - Sorrento to Rome
Today they'll head north to Rome, taking the train from Naples. This is their only activity today, again to allow them time to check in and find a nice spot for dinner in Rome.
Day 10 - Rome
Today they will enjoy a tour that gives them the highlights of Rome all in one day! They'll zip through the Vatican museums, gaze at the beauty of the Sistine Chapel, learn a bit about St. Peter's Basilica before heading over to the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill. After lunch they will visit the Colosseum, marveling at the history and imagining the gladiators that once fought there.
Day 11 - Rome
One of the things about traveling with kids is that they don't always want to just do a bunch of walking tours or museum visits. A great way to still get some history in but in a unique way in Rome is to do a bike tour of the Appian Way to learn more about the Roman aqueducts there!
Day 12 - Rome
Today they've got the chance to do a Vespa scooter tour with professional photographer so that they have amazing family photos with iconic Roman sites as their backdrop! What an amazing way to end their trip as they leave for home tomorrow.
