Antarctica - not as elusive as you might think!
Getting the 7 continent badge of honor often seems a lofty goal to people - like Antarctica is unattainable or only for "true adventurers" or those with very high disposable incomes. While of course those two categories of people do travel to Antarctica, it is possible for some of us "common folks" to go there too!
One of the best methods (both as far as efficiency and cost) to get to the 7th continent is an expedition cruise. There are quite a few companies to choose from, depending on your budget, level of science you'd like to have incorporated in, and the itinerary. There is also the option for a fly-cruise to avoid the Drake Passage (more on why some want to avoid that below), but this typically adds to the price tag if you're minding your pocketbook closely.
One reason people may think only "true adventurers" go to Antarctica is because the journey there can be a bit dicey (or maybe cubes and chunks 🤮 is a better choice of phrase). The Drake Passage is the stretch of water between the tip of South America and Antarctica, and is known to be turbulent at times. Many passengers who normally aren't afflicted by seasickness find themselves to experience it to some degree. But never fear - if you want to see Antarctica (and not just see it, but step foot on it), your travel agent has the full scoop when it comes to avoiding it and that's just a small part of what you get when you use me to plan your amazing, once-in-a-lifetime trip to the seventh continent!
Wildlife - up close & personal
One of the cuter reasons for booking your cruise to Antarctica is the wildlife you'll see along the way. Penguins, seals, albatross (albatrosses?), even bugs! And you'll get to see them pretty up close, as expedition cruise ships are on the smaller end of the cruise ship spectrum.
Science galore!
One of the draws to an Antarctica cruise is the heavy load of science onboard. From penguin watch maintenance to ensure cameras are working to gather details about the penguins, to climate change studies, you'll be elbow-to-elbow with scientists who enjoy discussing their research!
Best time to travel
Late October - March is the season for Antarctica, outside of that the conditions really don't allow for travel
Recommended duration

Cost factors
The cruises themselves start at $5,000/person for a budget line, with the average being around $8-10,000/person. Add to that a flight down to Ushuaia, Argentina and at least one pre- and post-cruise night at a hotel.
