Hospitals, appointments, & new rooms!

Last month EV broke her arm so we "enjoyed" the emergency room and orthopedic appointments. This month brought me back to the hospital as my dad has had some health issues of late, one of which required him to go in for diagnostics (Malcolm and I kept him company for most of one of the days he was there). Hopefully none of my clients felt any type of interruption in the services I provide, but in case you were wondering, life has been a bit hectic for me as of late!

Family is always first

My dad is no stranger to hospitals - about 10 years ago he had a massive heart attack that left him in a medically induced coma for a few weeks. I happened to be in India when this occurred, and the initial prognosis wasn't good. It was a very scary time - not knowing if I'd make it back to see him still alive, despite having booked the first flight home that I could get.

🕛 24 hours of travel later and I was able to visit him in the hospital, which wasn't any less scary. Seeing him hooked up to tubes and machines, all of which were required for him to just barely be alive, was not anything I could've prepared myself for.

But there's a silver lining (as shown in the photo above): he made it through that trial after about 3 weeks in a coma and a bit of physical therapy, and has been alive and kicking ever since. He's been able to love two grandchildren and enjoys playing with them and Skyping them as often as he can. Having heart failure with an internal pacemaker just means that he is a bionic grandpa! 🦾

New room for EV

In other news, EV has finally moved out... of her shared room with Malcolm. She now officially has her own room (we had split their toys out between rooms before, but she still slept in Malcolm's room in the top bunk), with her own bed that we got from the wonder that is Ikea. Not only did we go there all as a family, we went there all as a family on a Saturday! I'll take my 🏆 mother of the year award 🏆 now for fighting those crowds with two young kids who see and want EVERYthing in the store...
