Austria - 2019
Vienna is a bustling city center with architecture to wow you. Whether you are walking through the Naschmarkt (think large scale open air market), taking a stroll through the Schönbrunn Palace gardens, or taking a tour of the Vienna Opera House, there is sure to be something there for you. The city boasts numerous public gardens with a myriad of beautiful flowers and trees, and on your way to each garden you are sure to see magnificent architecture like the Rathaus or the Hofburg.
Vienna has an excellent transit system that is easy to navigate even if you don’t speak German. It brings you all over the city and makes it easy to see all of the things on your vacation bucket list.
Salzburg, on the other hand, is less of a bustling metropolis and more quaint and village-like. Here you can find the abbey where Maria Von Trapp spent her early adult years, and where many of the Sound of Music scenes were filmed. If you are like me and love the Sound of Music, make sure to check out the official tour which takes you to the gazebo used in the film, and many of the major sites a true fan would recognize. Even if the Sound of Music isn’t your thing, Salzburg has a lot to offer, and is just an all around great place to visit.
